Augusta National Golf Club Insider Tips

Parking At August National Golf Club:

As you reach the vicinity of the golf club, directional signs will be posted for your convenience as well as deputies and attendants to direct you to parking. There are four lots (A-D) with multiple entrances to ease traffic flow.

Parking for the Masters is free on a first come, first serve basis. As the lots fill up, the gates will close, so be sure to have an alternative parking location in case parking runs out. We suggest looking at sites along Washington Road, and bring cash since most of these lots require payment and are cash only. Public tickets are limited to three entries per day.

We suggest you leave a bit before the game ends to get ahead of traffic. Berckmans Road will be one-way between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. during Masters Week. In addition, the traffic between Cherry Lane and Ingleside Drive will be one way and could cause up to half hour delay. Those exiting the lots from Health Drive should stay in the south lane and turn onto Ingleside Drive. Those on Washington Road will merge onto the north street at Cherry Lane and remain until they pass Ingleside Drive, where the road will merge back into the south lane toward Wheeler Road.

If you’re walking, note that Washington Road is a busy street to cross on foot. Azalea Drive has no pedestrian sidewalk so make sure you plan accordingly.

Best Places To Catch The Action At Augusta National Golf Club

Everyone has their own viewing strategy, but there’s one spot in particular that beats them all – Amen Corner.

Near the middle of this historic 3-hole is a peninsula of trees from which you can view the 11th green, 12th tee, 12th green, and 13th tee. There’s a reason this is called “Amen Corner.” The treacherous 11th green is protected by water on the front left and the bailout is usually to the right, which sets up a difficult approach.

The famous 12th is right in front and you’ll likely witness drama as shots plunk into Rae’s creek. Masters hopes have been dashed more than once on this very hole (sorry, Jordan Spieth). The 13th tee is a blind dogleg left tee shot and many attempt to shorten it by hitting over the trees (don’t miss Bubba Watson here!).

Note: since Amen corner is a popular spot for fans, it’s best to arrive early and place your chair in the best available location and then return later when the groups start approaching the 11th green.

Augusta National Golf Club Food & Concessions

According to visitors, the club offers a wide selection of merchandise with various styles, colors and prices. You can buy something for $100 or $15. If you plan on taking home a souvenir, we recommend you wait to buy something before you leave so you won’t have to carry it around. Stores feature several cashiers with little to no wait in lines.

There are many concessions stands featuring reasonably priced food. Make sure you buy the club’s most popular food item, the pimento cheese sandwich made from a secret recipe for only $1.50. Other menu items include egg salad ($1.50) and a BBQ pork sandwich ($3). There are also beverages such as sweet tea ($1.50) and beer ($4). The water bottles make great souvenirs for those who don’t want to splurge.

The Augusta National Golf Club Experience

For many, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime event and something to check off the golf course bucket list. Take the time to explore the course and the grounds, including the gift shop.

Visitors to the Augusta National Golf Club have often commented on the meticulously landscaped hills and manicured fairways. The pristine course is compared to something out of a painting, with bursts of colors from the blooming flowers. The terrain is riddled with hills, so make sure you bring comfortable shoes to traverse the steep inclines and declines.

With these picturesque views and a ban on cameras and videos, you might be wondering if there’s a way you can capture the experience. Luckily, the club offers a photographer that can take your photo for free in front of the clubhouse to download online later.

It has been reported that the staff is very friendly and helpful, eager to assist guests with that Southern hospitality.

You can place your chair anywhere you want on the course. Patrons typically leave the chairs unattended with confidence as they explore the grounds. During game time, the course feels very intimate, with spectators seated close to the holes behind the ropes. This makes for great views of the golfers and the action.

There are plenty of restrooms and concessions, so you won’t have to go far to find one.
