The Vancouver Canucks compete in the Northwest Division of the National Hockey League. They were founded in 1945, and played in the PCHL until 1952. At this time, they moved into the WHL where they stayed until 1970. Finally, they made the transition to the NHL and this is where they are today. Since the NHL is the greatest hockey league in the world, it is safe to say that the Canucks have found a good home.
The Canucks play their home games at General Motors Place. They have done so since 1996, and this will probably be the case for quite some time. After all, General Motors Place is one of the nicest and most modern venues in the entire country.
Quite a few great players have competed for the Canucks. They include Trevor Linden, Stan Smyl, Markus Naslund, Pavel Bure, and Cam Neely among many others.
The Vancouver Canucks have traveled around the ice hockey world quite a bit. But since landing in the NHL they have become one of the most well respected teams in the league.
Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) is an indoor multipurpose venue located in Vancouver, British Columbia in the country of Canada. Since opening, Rogers Arena has been known as one of the most modern arenas in the area. On top of this, fans love to watch events at this venue thanks to good site lines of the floor as well as a seating capacity that allows for a great experience.
At this time the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL is the only primary tenant of Rogers Arena. With that being said, this venue has also hosted other teams in the past. They include the Vancouver Grizzles of the NBA, the Vancouver Voodoo of the RHI, and the Vancouver Ravens of the NLL. But although there is only one primary tenant playing home games at Rogers Arena, this venue does not have a difficult time staying busy throughout the course of the year.
In addition to regularly scheduled Canucks games, many other events have taken place at Rogers Arena in the past. They include 1998 NHL All Star Game, the 1998 NBA Draft, the U2 Vertigo Tour in 2005, and the 2006 NHL Draft. Additionally, Rogers Arena hosted the ice hockey portion of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
As you can see, Rogers Arena is much more than a venue that only hosts hockey games. It keeps busy by hosting concerts, special events, and shows as well. For this reason, the people of Vancouver always have something to do no matter what time of the year it may be. Seeing an event unfold at Rogers Arena is a great experience. If you have the chance to buy tickets for an upcoming event you should consider doing so.
