How Long Is Disney on Ice? What to Expect from Touring Shows

Victoria Guerra | July 24, 2026

Most Disney on Ice productions run between one hour and 45 minutes and two hours, including a 15- to 20-minute intermission split into two roughly equal halves. Once you factor in finding your seats and taking in the pre-show atmosphere, plan on close to two and a half hours total from the moment you walk in the door. Event Tickets Center has tickets to Disney on Ice shows near you.

What's Currently Touring

Two different productions are touring under the Disney on Ice banner right now, so it helps to know which one is headed to your city before you buy Disney on Ice tickets. Each show runs on the same standard schedule, but the storylines and character lineups are different enough that it's worth knowing what you're walking into.

Disney On Ice: Find Your Hero

Disney On Ice: Find Your Hero blends stories from Encanto, Moana, Frozen, and the Disney Princess line into one show, hosted by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. The runtime falls in the standard window, and the mixed lineup makes it a solid pick if your kids don't have a single favorite movie. It's currently touring the Midwest, Southwest, West Coast, and Mountain West, with dates confirmed through December.

Spotlight Magic!

Disney On Ice: Spotlight Magic! takes a different approach, framed as a red carpet celebration featuring Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Tangled, and Moana. It's a newer production, so early stops on the tour route tend to have more seating options before word of mouth builds in each city. The character mix leans a bit more toward modern Disney and Pixar titles, which can be a better fit for younger kids than a classics-heavy lineup.

What Happens Before the Lights Go Down

Doors typically open one hour before showtime, and that hour matters more than most parents expect. Merchandise stands, character photo ops, and snack lines all happen in that window, and all of them move slowly. Arriving at door time gives you room to grab a light-up wand or a photo before you're rushed to your seats.

Showing up 15 minutes before showtime means skipping most of that and sliding into your seat already stressed. Framed honestly, a Disney on Ice outing runs closer to three hours than two once you count the parking lot to car time. Here's how that pre-show hour typically breaks down:

Pre-show timeline, minute by minute

60 minutes before showtime: doors open
50 to 40 minutes before: merchandise stands and character photo ops get busy
30 to 15 minutes before: snack and drink lines peak, seats start filling in
15 minutes before: house lights begin to dim, last call for concessions
Showtime: lights go down, latecomers may be held at the entrance until a pause in the action

It's Colder Than You Think (Dress for It)

The show takes place on a full sheet of ice inside an arena, and the air near the lower bowl sits noticeably colder than the rest of the building. It always catches first-timers off guard, since the rest of the venue can feel perfectly normal.

Layer up. A hoodie or light jacket works for adults, and younger kids do better with an extra layer plus a blanket. Seats closer to the ice mean colder air, so keep that in mind when you're picking where to sit.

Bringing Little Kids? Read This First

A few small decisions make a big difference when you're bringing young kids to Disney on Ice. Here's what parents ask about most:

Quick reference for parents

Best time to go: weekday matinees are less crowded and less overstimulating
Seat selection: mid-level sections offer better sightlines than floor seats for small kids
Noise level: it gets loud, consider ear protection for toddlers
Bathroom timing: go right before the show or use intermission
Managing expectations: kids under four may not last the full runtime, and that's normal, aisle seats make an early exit easier
