Although Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is the official name, most fans and media refer to this venue as "The Swamp." Ben Hill Griffin Stadium opened in 1930. From 1930 to 1989 the venue was known as Florida Field. At that time, it was renamed after Ben Hill Griffin, Jr.; a major university benefactor. But no matter what you call the venue, it will always be known as one of the best in the SEC, if not the entire country.
