The Beach Boys Set to Spread Holiday Cheer With Pair of Tours
Mike Love and Brian Wilson are gearing up to ring in the holiday spirit, with the two founding members of one of the greatest American bands in history hitting the road on a pair of separate Christmas tours!
The Beach Boys took the Christmas music world by storm in 1964 with the release of their record-breaking album The Beach Boys’ Christmas Album. The album is regarded as one of the finest holiday records of the rock era, featuring seven Christmas standards and five original songs, including “Little Saint Nick” and the hit single “The Man With All The Toys,” which charted at the number three spot on the Billboard Hot 100 that year.
Get ready to say, “Merry Christmas, Baby,” with Brian Wilson, Al Jardine, and Blondie Chaplin as they take the landmark 1964 album on tour starting November 28 in Minneapolis, MN. Wilson will perform the Christmas Album in its entirety on his month-long “Holiday Tour,” which is set to make stops in Staten Island, Sarasota, Austin, and Thousand Oaks before wrapping up on December 23 in Reno, NV.
Mike Love will hit the road on November 16 starting with a show in Chattanooga, TN in support of his upcoming album Reason For The Season. The 22-date trek will see Love and his Grammy-winning band hit the stage in cities like Boston, Baltimore, Charlotte, Ann Arbor, and Salt Lake City before a final performance in Denver, CO closes things out on December 30.
The “Reason For The Season Tour” will feature a mix of holiday classics as well as some original songs off Love’s upcoming album. Led by Love and Bruce Johnston, the band includes Scott Totten, Jeffrey Foskett, Christian Love, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill, and Keith Hubacher as they continue the Beach Boys legacy.
“Music is something that always brought my family together, especially around Christmas time,” Love said of the upcoming album. “What is so special about this collection of songs is that they both harken back to the wonder of childhood and family, but also feel very relevant and exciting for a new season of listening. Who Are the Beach Boys?
Critically-acclaimed surf rockers the Beach Boys got their start as a garage band, formed by brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine. Drawing on inspiration from jazz-based vocal groups, 1950’s rock and roll, and R&B, the quintet established a unique sound distinguished by their unrivaled vocal harmonies. The Beach Boys are one of the most critically-acclaimed and widely influential rock bands of all time. Their sales estimates range from 100 to 350 million records worldwide, influencing artists spanning several genres and decades. They have had over 80 songs chart across the globe, with 36 of them becoming US Top 40 hits (the most by any American rock band) and four hitting the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The groups founding members were inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
