Metallica is one of the most prominent and genre-defining heavy metal bands in American history. Formed in 1981, the band, led by lead vocalist and guitarist James Hetfield, has 45 years in the game. The band has continued touring regularly for all this time. In 2026, they announced that their current M72 tour, supporting the album 72 Seasons, will come to the Sphere in Las Vegas for the first time.

The band announced a 4-weekend Life Burns Faster residency on February 25, 2026. Following rapid sell-outs and “unbelievable demand,” eight more weekends were announced throughout March 2026. All 24 Thursday and Sunday dates are now sold out for the Vegas residency; however, you can still find tickets here at Event Tickets Center.

Each weekend of the residency features a Thursday and Saturday show at either 8:00 or 8:30 PM. No more dates are expected at the Sphere, since they said they had “maxed out” the Sphere dates.

Recently Announced Connecticut Dates

While additional Sphere dates are not expected, the band did recently extend the limited run beyond the Sphere, announcing two Connecticut shows at the Mohegan Sun Arena, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026.
