The Complete Lollapalooza Logistics Guide: Bag Policy & More

Emma Hellmer | July 21, 2026

As Lollapalooza approaches, fans are starting to make final festival preparations. Details like bag policy, transportation options, and prohibited items make up the last-minute planning. Find everything you need to know as far as Lollapalooza logistics. Arrive at the festival prepared, without having to second-guess the bag you brought or whether you’ll need to leave your water bottle at the gate.

Lollapalooza Bag Policy

One of the worst starts to a fun festival weekend would be having your bag rejected at security for not meeting requirements. Avoid having to ditch your bag by understanding the rigid bag policy before you arrive.

Lollapalooza’s Grant Park operates with strict bag size regulations to protect the safety of guests. Small clutch purses and fanny packs under 6” by 9” are permitted, and anything larger must be clear. Even clear bags and backpacks cannot be larger than 12” by 6” by 12”. For the smoothest entry experience, simply leave your bag at home.

Transporation

Whether you’re a Chicago local or traveling for the festival, there are multiple transportation options available for Lollapalooza. The festival is located in the heart of Chicago at Grant Park. For those traveling from out of town, there are two main airports in Chicago to fly into: O’Hare and Midway.

Airports

Chicago O’Hare International Airport is slightly farther away (17 miles) from Grant Park but offers more larger and international flights compared to Midway. Chicago Midway International Airport is a shorter drive to the festival (11 miles), and it serves as the main headquarters for Southwest Airlines, offering more budget-friendly flight options than O’Hare.

Parking

Millennium Garages offers discounted parking for Lollapalooza when you purchase parking online. Use the promotional code LOLLA2026 at checkout on the Millennium Garages site to get this discount. Millennium Lakeside Garage and Millennium Park Garage are both located directly across the street from the North Lollapalooza entrance, offering the most convenient access to the festival.

Public Transit & Rideshare

The easiest way to avoid the hassle of parking at the festival is to get dropped off at the entrance. Chicago metro area has plenty of public transit options that can drop you off right near the festival. With routes throughout the city, public buses and trains offer the cheapest transportation aside from walking or biking. Rideshare services like Uber and Lyft, on the other hand, offer the convenience of pickup and drop-off wherever you need at a slight premium.

Prohibited Items

The festival has a strict entry policy, so attendees should plan to travel light. Bags that do not meet the venue’s requirements, outside food and beverages, and weapons are prohibited. Smoking and vaping are also not allowed. Check the venue resources for the full official list of prohibited items.

Packing List

Deciding what to pack is an essential part of the planning process for a big event like Lollapalooza. Remember to prepare for the heat, since Lollapalooza takes place in the heart of summer. Included in the list of permitted items for the festival are empty reusable water bottles and hydration packs, which can be the difference between overheating and remaining hydrated and healthy throughout the long weekend.

Aside from the obvious essentials, like your phone, festival wristband, money, and identification, here is everything you should pack in your festival-approved small clutch or clear bag.

See our recommended Lollapalooza packing list:

  • Portable charger
  • Ear plugs
  • Reusable water bottle or hydration pack
  • Wet wipes
  • Sunscreen
  • Electrolytes
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Hair ties

Festival Entrances

There are two entrances open to GA attendees at Lollapalooza. While an official 2026 festival map has yet to be released, we know these entrances won’t move. The Main Entrance is located at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Ida B. Wells Drive. The North Entrance is located at the corner of Columbus Drive and East Monroe Street. GA+, VIP, and Platinum attendees have two additional entrance options.

When to Arrive at Grant Park

The festival entrances open at 11:00 AM each day, and the first performers take the stage at noon. There are typically only lines when the festival entrances open in the morning, so arriving a little after doors open often allows a quicker route through security. Fans can also access bag-free express lanes by leaving bags at home.

How to Find Last-Minute Lollapalooza Tickets

Lollapalooza four-day passes sold out almost immediately on the primary market. When tickets sell out rapidly for a high-demand event like this, fans often need to score tickets via resale. Always purchase resale tickets via trusted secondary ticket marketplaces rather than via third-party platforms or social media. Scammers often use high-demand events like Lollapalooza to take advantage of fans wanting tickets. When you purchase tickets from Event Tickets Center, you’re covered by a 100% Buyer Guarantee, fraud protection, and customer service throughout your transaction.
