Arthur Ashe Stadium Information:
Arthur Ashe Stadium is located in Flushing Meadows Park in the Queens area of New York City, New York. This venue is the main tennis stadium of the U.S. Open; one of four Grand Slam tournaments that take place each year. Additionally, this venue serves as the host venue for the Arthur Ashe Kids Day.
The stadium is named after the famous tennis player, Arthur Ashe. In 1968, he won the first U.S. Open that professionals could play in. From there, Ashe went on to have a great career as a professional tennis player. In fact, he is well known to be the top African American player of all time.
The seating capacity of Arthur Ashe Stadium is 22,547. In addition, it also features five restaurants as well as 90 luxury suites. This allows any spectator to have a great time at the event; no matter where they may be sitting.
All in all, Arthur Ashe Stadium is one of the top tennis venues in the country. This has been the case since opening in 1997, and will more than likely hold true for many more years to come.
It opened in 1997, replacing Louis Armstrong Stadium as the main stadium. Arthur Ashe Stadium features 22,547 individual seats, 90 luxury suites, five restaurants and a two-level players' lounge -- making it the largest outdoor tennis-only venue in the world. The Stadium, like the other 32 courts in the facility, has a DecoTurf cushioned acrylic surface. The stadium is located near Shea Stadium, home of the New York Mets.
