UD Arena, also known as University of Dayton Arena, is located on the campus of the University of Dayton. This multipurpose arena was constructed in 1969, and since then has seen many great moments. Although it is one of the older venues in college sports, it still has plenty to offer.
The main purpose of University of Dayton Arena is to host University of Dayton men's basketball home games. Of course, other university sports are also played at UD Arena as well. In addition to regularly scheduled men's basketball games the arena has also hosted more than 70 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament games. It is also the annual host of the NCAA tournament play in game which pits the 64th versus the 65th ranked team in the field.
Although University of Dayton Arena was built in 1969, there have been several expansions and renovations since. In 1998 the Donoher Center was added to the northwest portion of the arena. This state of the art facility is used for game preparation and conditioning exercises. Additionally, a multi million dollar renovation was completed in 2002. This added new luxury boxes, expanded concessions, and a restaurant. These additions alone have made the UD Arena much more modern.
The seating capacity at University of Dayton Arena is 13,409, and it is safe to say that it is a full house more times than not.
With both sporting events and concerts taking place at University of Dayton Arena this venue has become quite popular over the last few years. As more and more people begin to take notice the University of Dayton Arena will continue to make a name for itself across the country.
