Meet The Black Keys

Blues-rock duo The Black Keys emerged in 2001, starting out as an independent act made up of guitarist and vocalist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney. The two began self-producing their records and recording in basements, releasing their debut album The Big Come Up in 2002. The album earned the pair a record deal, and over the course of the next decade, The Black Keys would release several albums and tour relentlessly, building a loyal underground fanbase. Their big break finally arrived in 2010 following the release of their sixth studio album, Brothers, and its massive hit single “Tighten Up,” earning the duo three Grammy Awards. Brothers’ follow-up, El Camino, along with its hit single “Lonely Boy” garnered another three Grammy Awards for the pair, followed by True Blue in 2014, which became their first number-one debut in the US, Canada, and Australia. The Black Keys are one of the most prominent garage-acts to emerge from the genre’s second-wave revival in 2010. Their blues-heavy style draws on influences from several of Auerbach’s favorite artists, including Junior Kimbrough, Howlin’ Wolf, and Robert Johnson.
