Meet Swervedriver
English alt-rockers Swervedriver formed in 1989 by founding members Adam Franklin and Jimmy Hartridge. The group rose to fame on the strength of their distinct style that blended shoegaze aesthetic with traditional pop, releasing a successful series of EPs before dropping their debut album Raise in 1991. Amid a flurry of lineup changes (with Franklin and Hartridge remaining the only constants), the group would go on to release three more studio albums including Mezcal Head (1993), Ejector Seat Reservation (1995), and 99th Dream (1999), before entering a hiatus that would last throughout most of the 2000s. Over the decade they were active, the band made a slight shift in musical direction, emerging with a heavier rock sound that would later incorporate elements of psychedelia, pop, and indie rock. They briefly reunited in 2008 to tour, and in 2015 released their first full-length album in 17 years, I Wasn’t Born to Lose You. The band released their fifth studio album, Future Ruins, in early 2019.
