Its original revolving wooden stage was washed out by heavy rains in 1939, and the stage was replaced with a concrete slab that remained in place until renovations were done in 2001. An amphitheater with 4,562 seats for Reserved Floor and 4,974 for General Admission Standing Room Only, plus 36 handicap accessible seats, Santa Barbara’s amphitheater provides an intimate musical experience because of its size and its extraordinary stage pavilion with cut-stone piers and a copper roof.
