Valhalla Golf Club is located in Louisville, Kentucky. This private golf club was designed by the great Jack Nicklaus, and is known to be one of the best in the eastern part of the United States. Sitting on nearly 500 acres of land, the views alone are reason enough to get excited about what Valhalla Golf Club has to offer.
The 1996 PGA Championship was played at Valhalla Golf Club. The success of this tournament led the PGA of American to purchase a 50 percent stake of the club the same year. By the end of 2000, the PGA of America had decided to move forward with the purchase of the rest of the club. That same year, they announced that the 2008 Ryder Cup would take place at Valhalla.
In addition to the 1996 PGA Championship, several other important tournaments have also taken place there. They include the 2002 PGA Club Pro Championship and the 2004 Senior PGA Championship. As you can see, since the PGA took over Valhalla they have done a great job brining many top of the line tournaments to the club.
Since opening in 1986, Valhalla Golf Club has been a large part of this sport. And with the tournaments that are set to take place there in the future, it is safe to say that this tradition will continue.
