Meet Noname

Formerly known as Noname Gypsy, Noname emerged from hip-hop scene of Chicago as a frequenter of open-mic nights and slam poetry competitions in the early 2010s. Her friendship with fellow Chicago hip-hop artist Chance the Rapper proved to be advantageous, and she appeared on track “Lost” off his Acid Rap mixtape in 2013. The exposure gained Noname a wider audience, which she continued to grow by working on more collaborations with Chance and artists like Mick Jenkins and Mont Jake. Noname released her debut album Telefone in 2016, featuring a coming-of-age blend of soulful vocals and dreamy textures. Her sound has been described as soulful R&B-meets-hip-hop.
