Whether you're looking for a historic and unique experience or something lively and exciting, The Newton Theatre is where it's at! It has a long and illustrious history that dates back to the early 1920s. Originally opening as a vaudeville and silent movie house, it was eventually converted into three separate screens to accommodate the ever-growing popularity of Going to the Movies. After remaining closed for many years, it was recently renovated in 2011 and officially reopened its doors to become one of North Jersey's premier cultural destinations. It offers an impressive line up of entertainment including live music & comedy events and classic movie screenings alike. Notable acts such as Carbon Leaf, Yes, Little Feat have graced the stage along with Zane Lamprey, Judy Gold and many more! During summer months kayaking down a portion of the Wallkill River is another great way to explore this enchanting natural side of Newton NJ. History buffs should check out some buildings in town such as Halcyon Hall or Oldway Mansion – once owned by prominent families in the area but now open for tours.
