This week's top 5 Broadway shows

Wicked, Aladdin Tickets Hold Steady On Broadway

Wicked topped the charts this week for Broadway ticket sales, maintaining its spot from the week before. The musical, based on the “untold story” of the Witches of Oz, last held the top spot February 8, before temporarily falling out of the top five. With a two-week streak at No. 1, there’s no doubt fans haven’t given up on the Grammy Award winning musical.

Aladdin held on to its No. 2 spot for the second week in a row. Based on the Disney Classic, Aladdin has proven itself a crowd favorite since opening on Broadway in 2014 to rave reviews. Coming in at No. 3 this week? The Lion King! With consistent performances and iconic songs, including Elton John’s The Circle of Life, this Disney-inspired musical’s popularity doesn’t appear to be winding down any time soon.

Hamilton, The Great Comet Make Mark On Broadway

Hamilton, which last week announced additional tour performances, ranked No. 4 this week. Week after week, the musical, based on the life of Alexander Hamilton, proves that history is anything but boring.

Rounding off the top 5 list this week is The Great Comet. Slightly based on Tolstoy’s War and Peace, the musical has consistently garnered great feedback, including a recent review that referred to its music, staging and performances as coming “together in the most creative and enthralling way.”
