The Ultimate Guide to Levi’s Stadium

Adam Young | September 13, 2022
Levi's Stadium
One of the newest and most innovative stadiums in the country, Levi’s Stadium offers a wealth of fun and conveniences for 49ers fans. Here’s your guide to this impressive newcomer.

Brief History of Levi’s Stadium

Levi’s Stadium, home of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, was opened on July 17, 2014, after being constructed for an estimated $1.3 billion. Its normal seating capacity is 68,500, but it can be expanded to accommodate 75,000 for some events. Included in the seating options are 165 luxury suites and 8,500 club seats. The naming rights to the stadium were granted to the legendary San Francisco-based clothing company, Levi Strauss & Co., in 2013.

The 49ers were not the first Bay Area sports team to play in their new home. The San Jose Earthquakes of the MLS beat the Seattle Sounders on Aug. 2, 2014, to kick off sports battles in the new venue. Just over a month later, the 49ers lost to the Chicago Bears in their first game in the stadium.

Special Features

Levi’s Stadium is known for being one of the most environmentally friendly and technologically

advanced facilities in the world, both of which you would expect in Northern California. This hasn’t gone unnoticed, and the venue has received numerous accolades. The stadium was awarded Sports Facility of the Year by Sports Business Journal in May of 2015, Venue of Year and Venue Technology Award of the Year by The Stadium Business Awards in 2015, and The Stadium Business Environmental Award of the Year in 2017.

The building has a 27,000-square-foot “Green Roof” located on the top of its suite tower; three solar bridges with more than 1,150 solar panels; and it uses recycled water for the cooling tower, cooling roof, flushing devices and for irrigating the field as well as the landscaping surrounding the building.

If you’re going to a game and you’re worried about slow tweet speeds, fear not. The stadium boasts over 400 miles of data cable; more than 12,000 physical networks; and 1,000 Wi-Fi access points, which support a bandwidth 40 times larger than any known stadium in the country. And to cap off this dedication to innovation and eco-friendliness, the stadium features 10 electric-vehicle charging stations in one of the parking lots.

If all that wasn’t enough to enhance your game-day experience, there is 49ers Museum, which features 11 galleries and exhibit spaces. Inside, you’ll find an art collection celebrating the 49ers history, the culture of the greater San Francisco Bay Area, and larger-than-life portraits of 49ers legends. If you’re taking kids, The Dignity Health Play Kind Zone at Gate C is open three hours prior the game, and fans under 14 years old can enjoy various activities.

Stadium Amenities

This stadium has everything covered for a convenient game-day experience. There are ATMs and restrooms located all around the stadium, which are all are accessible to guests with disabilities. Baby changing stations are available in all family restrooms for the littlest Niners fans.

The stadium provides guests with disabilities courtesy shuttles buses from several parking lots. There are golf cart shuttles available in the main lot, and wheelchair service upon request. Guests can check out a closed captioning device by visiting any Guest Services Station, of which there are several throughout the venue.

If you want to take this all in when there isn’t a game going on, tours of the stadium are available daily 10 am to 6 pm Monday – Saturday; 10 am to 5 pm Sunday.
