Move over, baseball, there’s a new sport in town competing with the boys of summer. Monster Jam is making a surge in 2017, appearing in our Event Tickets Center Sports Hot 20 list for the first time.

Monster Jam sales on the secondary ticket market were on fire the past seven days, propelled by four new events going on sale. That was good enough to be the only non-MLB event in this week’s Hot 20. The week prior, Monster Jam was well outside our list of the 20 most popular tickets in sports.

Monster Jam: A Family Favorite

Monster Jam is a long-time family favorite, the ultimate combination of energy, excitement and pure power. The stats behind Monster Jam trucks are astounding. They weigh upwards of five tons, have tires more than five feet in diameter and pack a whopping 1,500 horsepower. No wonder kids love it! All that power gets loud, so if you go consider bringing ear plugs to protect their hearing.

For comparison, the top-selling car in America is the Toyota Camry. It carries 178 horsepower. So when you see a Monster Jam truck fly through the air, that’s the equivalent of nearly 8 Toyota Camrys about to crash down on some poor, unsuspecting junker cars.

SunTrust Park Makes A Baseball Push

The Atlanta Braves are the big movers among Major League Baseball teams on the resale market this week. The Braves have been hovering around the top 10 during their first season at SunTrust Park, but this is the first week they’re in the top five. Kansas City and Toronto again take first and second, with the Dodgers third and the Yankees fourth.

The NFL Continues to Lurk

We took our first in-depth look at 2017 football ticket sales last week, and this week’s update reveals a few changes. The Cowboys are still on top, but the Chiefs moved up to the two spot, replacing the Packers who sit in third. They are followed by the Giants and Redskins in the top five. Look for Pittsburgh to rise next week as their tickets go on sale.

How passionate are Cowboys fans? Well, their preseason sales on the secondary market rank higher than regular season tickets for the Falcons and Patriots – last season’s Super Bowl teams.
