The Minnesota Timberwolves are a professional basketball team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. They play in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
They are almost always associated with their superstar franchise player, versatile eight time NBA all-star and 2004 MVP Kevin Garnett. Every successful and failed effort on building a championship title contender has been centered on this veteran superstar.
The Target Center was opened in 1990 with great anticipation from the residents of Minneapolis, Minnesota. And it is safe to say that over the past few years this indoor arena has really lived up to the hype. Not only does it offer a modern atmosphere to fans, but the arena also attracts a lot of top of the line events on a regular basis. This includes everything from sporting events to shows to concerts.
At this time the Target Center has two primary tenants that use the arena to play their home games. They include the Minnesota Timberwolves of the NBA, and the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA. Other professional teams such as the Minnesota Fighting Pike of the AFL have also called the Target Center home in the past.
The seating capacity at the Target Center is one of its biggest draws. For basketball games this arena can accommodate 20,500 fans; this is among the best in both the NBA and WNBA. Hockey and arena football games can hold 17,500 fans, and center stage concerts nearly 19,500.
As if the Target Center was not nice enough, it underwent a major renovation in2004. This included more than 19,000 new seats as well as the addition of 1,500 new ones. On top of all this the original scoreboard was replaced with a more modern display, and a luxury lounge was also constructed.
Target Corporation owns the naming rights to this arena, and it does not appear that this is going to change anytime in the near future. Fans who have experienced any event inside the Target Center rave at the top of the line features, as well as the great sight lines of the floor.
