Mercedes-Benz Stadium - Atlanta, GA

The Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a state of the art stadium, home of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons and the MLS’s Atlanta United FC. In addition to professional football and soccer matches, Mercedes-Benz Stadium Atlanta will host many other events, including AMA super cross. It will also be the designated venue for the SEC championship game every year.

The stadium has several unique features. Its retractable roof opens and closes in a pinwheel pattern, somewhat similar to the lens of a camera, leaving a circular section exposed above to let in air on hot nights. Other glass panels can also be retracted to enhance air circulation. For smaller events, curtains can extend down to hide upper level seating. The most amazing feature is the scoreboard. It forms a continuous halo ring inside the space over which the roof closes. It is three times the size of the second largest scoreboard in an NFL stadium.

The total capacity of the stadium is 71,000, but for special events such as a Superbowl or Championship game, it can be expanded to 83,000. Accessible seating is available throughout the stadium. Concessions are available throughout the stadium and there are many options to accommodate any diet needs. In addition they are quite affordable compared to other arena food. Downtown Atlanta is just a short walk away, where you can find several great bars and restaurants.

The stadium is located at 441 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in downtown Atlanta just off Interstate 20. Visitors can purchase parking ahead of the game. The stadium is also close to three separate MARTA stations and is easily accessed via public transportation.

Before you can enter the stadium, you’ll need to clear a security checkpoint. Prohibited items include purses larger than a clutch bag and other large, non-transparent bags, coolers and non-approved seat cushions. Clear plastic bags that do not exceed one gallon in volume are allowed. Keep in mind, this is a preliminary list and subject to change.
