Lucas Oil Stadium - Indianapolis, IN

Lucas Oil Stadium, is home to the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts. Construction was completed in 2008. Colts fans know it as “The House that Manning Built,” thanks to the success around that time of the Colts led by quarterback Peyton Manning. Stadium Journey Magazine has recognized the stadium as providing the best football experience for the past five years in a row.

Several other events regularly occur at the stadium, including college and high school football, men’s and women’s NCAA Tournament basketball, monster truck rallies, conventions and exhibition soccer matches. Every year, the stadium hosts two music competitions: the Bands of America Grand National Championships, which features the best high school marching bands from around the country, and the Drum Corps International World Championships.

Lucas Oil Stadium Indianapolis has a capacity of 62,421 and 137 executive suites for Colts games, but that size can be increased to as much as 70,000 for high-demand events. The venue features two HD 97’ x 53’ scoreboards, along with a retractable roof and window wall, making it highly adaptable for any event or weather. It’s located in downtown Indianapolis just off Interstate 70. Several restaurants and bars are just north of the stadium.

Parking is available on a first come first serve basis, and on game days, spots tend to fill up quickly with people tailgating. Other parking is available nearby. If you plan to eat at the game, there are 56 permanent concession stands and 90 portable ones scattered throughout the stadium that can accommodate any diet.

While the retractable roof allows for outdoor environment, the stadium management will decide to close it 90 minutes before a game if there is rain or lightning in the forecast, or if the weather drops below 40 degrees.

Before entering the venue, you’ll have to pass a security check. Items such as outside food, any kind of container, noisemakers and any objects that obstruct the view of others are prohibited.
