Meet John Medeski's Mad Skillet
Mad Skillet was formed from a late-night show in New Orleans, LA during Jazz Fest 2015. The band is comprised of keyboardist John Medeski (Medeski Martin & Wood), Grammy nominated guitarist/band leader Will Bernard (Medicine Hat, Party Hats), sousaphone player Kirk Joseph (Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Backyard Groove), and drummer Terence Higgins (Ani DeFranco, Dirty Dozen Brass Band). John Medeski is best known for his organ-centric approach to jazz. Teaming up with Bernard, the two musicians made playing together during NOLA’s Jazz Fest their annual tradition. With the addition of Joseph and Higgins in 2015, the groups energy was unmatched, and their music took off. Their sound, a combination of NOLA groove steeped in jazz, blues psychedelic rock and R&B is what Medeski calls a “vast musical universe with limitless potential.”
