Meet Emeli Sande
Soul-jazz singer/songwriter Emeli Sande began her career providing guest vocals for several successful UK grime artists before eventually pursuing her solo career in 2010, making her breakthrough in 2012 with the release of her debut album, Our Version of Events. Drawing on inspiration from artists like Joni Mitchell, Nina Simon, and Massive Attack, Sande's resonant vocals and cross-genre musical elements captured audiences' attention, and her debut album became the best-selling album of 2012 in UK with over one million units sold. Sande took home two Brit Awards in 2013, one for Best British Female Solo Artist and the other for British Album of the Year. She dropped her second studio album Long Live the Angels in 2016, debuting at number two on the UK album chart and earning two additional Brit Awards. in 2017, she was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire for her many contributions to music. Sande's third album, Real Life, was released in September 2019.
