Folk singer-songwriter Edie Brickell stepped onto the music scene in 1985 with the formation of her band Edie Brickell & New Bohemians. The group’s debut album, Shooting Rubber Bands at the Stars (1988) received high praise from music critics, becoming a massive hit and putting Brickell on the map as a talented singer-songwriter. Following the group’s disbandment in 1991, Brickell married fellow musician and legendary artist Paul Simon, taking a step back from music for some time. She would return in 1994 with her debut studio album, Picture Perfect Morning, followed by Volcano nearly ten years later. Brickell would go on to release eight more albums and work on collaborations with famed comedian, actor, and musician Steve Martin on a series of projects and performances. She has continued to record music with all the original members of the New Bohemians throughout the years, although the music released has fallen under the category of her solo work.
