The Colonial Country Club is located in Fort Worth, Texas, and is one of the nicest private golf clubs in the entire country. Although there are many country clubs in the state of Texas, Colonial Country Club is one of the best. For this reason, thousands of rounds of golf as well as a PGA tournament are played there every year. And if a course is nice enough to host a PGA event, it obviously has something to offer.
Believe it or not, Colonial Country Club was started in 1936; this is quite old when compared to most of the clubs in the country. Perry Maxwell and John Bredemus designed the course. The layout and design of the par 70 course is breathtaking. In addition to some of the course being bordered by the Trinity River, the rest of it is right along some of the nicest homes in the area.
The Colonial golf tournament, a PGA event, has been played at this club every year since 1946. This is the longest run tournament to be held at the same site. This alone shows how much people love what Colonial Country Club has to offer. Additionally, the course has also hosted other PGA events such as the 1991 U.S. Women's Open, 1975 Tournament Players Championship, and the 1941 U.S. Open.
All in all, the Colonial Country Club has stood up to the test of time. And there are no signs that it is going to give in anytime soon.
