Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena

The Carolina Hurricanes compete in the Southeast Division of the National Hockey League. Although the team is currently based in Raleigh, North Carolina and known as the Hurricanes, this has not always been the case. From 1972 to 1979 the franchise was the New England Whalers. From 1979 to 1997, they were the Hartford Whalers. Then finally, the team moved to Raleigh and took the name of the Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes play their home games at the RBC Center. This venue is among the newest in the league having opened in 1999. This alone has gone a long way in getting the people of the area interested in the Hurricanes.

Several great players have donned the Hurricanes jersey over the years. Some of the best include Kevin Dineen, Ron Francis, Keith Primeau, and Rod Brind’Amour among many others.

In a short amount of time in North Carolina, the Hurricanes have already managed to take the league by storm. The people of the area love what the franchise is all about, and this devotion is only going to continue to grow.

The PNC Arena (Formerly RBC Center) is an indoor arena located in Raleigh, North Carolina. This venue was also once known as the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena. Since opening its doors in 1999, the PNC Arena has hosted thousands of top of the line sporting events, special events, concerts, and shows. This has gone a long way in solidifying it as one of the top venues in the area.

There are currently two main tenants that use the PNC Arena for home games. They include the Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL, and the North Carolina State University men's basketball team. These two teams make sure that the PNC Arena is always busy during the fall and winter months. And when they are not playing their home games at the PNC Arena, there are a wide variety of other events that stop by from time to time.

One of the biggest benefits of the PNC Arena is its modern look and feel. On the outside this venue is truly gorgeous to look at, and when you make your way inside you will surely fall in love with the wide concourses and high quality concessions. Additionally, the seating capacity at the PNC Arena is quite reasonable. For basketball games the capacity is 19,722, and for hockey 18,730. While this is not the largest venue in the country, it is nicely sized to give every fan the chance to experience the game.
