Meet Paula Abdul
Grammy-award winning pop legend Paula Abdul is a dancer, choreographer, singer and songwriter who started her career as a cheerleader for the Los Angeles Lakers at the ripe age of 18. She was discovered by The Jacksons and went on to become a choreographer at the height of the music video era. Her debut studio album Forever Your Girl (1988) became the most successful debut album at that time, setting a record for the most number-one singles from a debut album on the Billboard Hot 100 chart: "Straight Up", "Forever Your Girl", "Cold Hearted", and "Opposites Attract". The latter earned her a Grammy Award for Best Music Video in 1991. Her six number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 tie her with Diana Ross for seventh among the female solo performers who have topped the chart. Abdul has earned her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, two MTV Video Music Awards, and two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography.
