Do Not Miss The 4th Festivities at Your Favorite MLB Stadium

Adam Young | June 30, 2017
July 4th festivities.
Nothing says America like taking in a game of our nation’s favorite pastime, baseball. Heading to the ballpark on the Fourth of July has been a beloved tradition for generations, and Major League Baseball is getting in on the action this year. All teams will be wearing special event jerseys for games from July 1-4, to honor the birthday of our country. On top of that, many stadiums are hosting holiday-themed special events featuring giveaways, fireworks and fun for the whole family. Here are three to look out for:

New York Mets vs. Washington Nationals

It’s hard to imagine a more patriotic place to celebrate Independence Day than our nation’s capital. On July 3, the Washington Nationals will host an explosive post-game fireworks display called Freedom Fireworks. The pyrotechnics will immediately follow the game, which starts at 6:05 pm. Then on July 4, the day game starts at 11:05 am.—it’s part of the Patriotic Series. Members of Operation Homefront, an organization that helps military families with emergency needs, will be honored at the game.

Boston Red Sox vs. Texas Rangers

The Red Sox travel to the Lone Star State for a three-game stand at Globe Life Park in Arlington, all games starting at 7:05 pm. There are post-game fireworks on tap for the July 3 game, and for the July 4 game, they’re blowing it out with a Texas-sized fireworks post-game extravaganza sponsored by Honda. The fireworks will light up the sky moments after the game ends.

San Francisco Giants vs. Detroit Tigers

July 4 kicks off a three-game homestand for the Detroit Tigers in Comerica Park, and if you’re going, you’ll want to get there early for the 1:10 pm. day game. Why? Because the first 10,000 fans (over 21 years old) will receive a patriotic hat thanks to the folks at MillerCoors. It’s also Armed Forces and Veterans Recognition Day at the park, so it should be an extra-patriotic day to make you feel good about being an American.
