Cowboys, Packers Lead Early Demand for NFL Tickets

Adam Young | May 31, 2017
NFL teams leading tickets.
The Dallas Cowboys lead the NFL…sort of. Mini-camps are almost here, and with it comes our first complete look at which teams have the most popular NFL tickets as we head into the 2017 season. The Cowboys tickets are perennially one of the most popular teams on the resale market, and it holds true so far in 2017. Dallas is followed by Green Bay, then Tennessee, Kansas City and the New York Giants in the top five. Green Bay is right up there with Dallas as a team that we see huge demand for every season, but what accounts for the buzz in Tennessee?

In 2016, the Titans finished 9-7 for their best record since going 9-7 in 2011. The years in between were, to put it mildly, rough, with their low point coming in their two-win 2014 season. They finished second place in the AFC South and with Marcus Mariota set to return at quarterback, Titans fans have every reason to be excited. Maybe Nashville will get a chance at the Super Bowl…to go with a (potential) Predators Stanley Cup?

Like the Titans, the Chiefs and Giants had strong seasons in 2016 and show signs that their fans are ready to kick off 2017. Another team to watch for this season is Atlanta. The Falcons open their new $1.6 billion Mercedes-Benz Stadium this fall and we expect demand to be high as fans try to get their first look at the new football palace. It’s quite a time to be a sports fan in Atlanta with the Falcons opening a new stadium and the Braves opening SunTrust Park all in 2017.

Preseason Top-Selling NFL Teams For 2017

  1. Dallas Cowboys
  2. Green Bay Packers
  3. Tennessee Titans
  4. Kansas City Chiefs
  5. New York Giants
  6. Miami Dolphins
  7. Washington Redskins
  8. Atlanta Falcons
  9. Philadelphia Eagles
  10. New York Jets

Looking outside the NFL, baseball remains the most popular item on the ticket resale market. The International Friendly matches are still hot, but fell back a few spots after last week’s surge.

The Blue Jays, Royals, Rangers, Dodgers and Yankees make up the top five. The Royals are a traditionally strong market, which holds true despite this year’s struggles on the field. The Blue Jays and Rangers got off to rough starts but are surging as of late while the Yankees and Dodgers are well on their way to a playoff push.

Pittsburgh Eclipses Nashville…In Ticket Sales

We’re down to the Stanley Cup Final in hockey and the Pittsburgh Penguins juuuust barely edged out Nashville on the resale market. However, take note: The first two games are in Pittsburgh. Fans looking for last-minute tickets in Nashville could put them back over the top.

NBA Finals Re-Rematch

This is the third straight year Cleveland and Golden State meet in the NBA Finals. They split the first two meetings and, if the ticket resale market is any indication, Golden State has the edge in 2017. That series gets underway Thursday at Oracle Arena in Oakland, so like hockey look for last-minute buyers in Cleveland to make a push.
