The tour gets underway November 30 with a show at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Sioux City, Iowa before taking Perry to cities including Cherokee, New York City, Pontiac, and San Francisco. A final performance at The Canyon in Agoura Hills, California will close out the 10-date trek on December 16.
Sweetzerland Manifesto dropped in January 2018 and marks Perry’s fourth solo release. The album, which was executive produced by the rocker’s Hollywood Vampires bandmate and famed actor Johnny Depp, features guest vocals from Cheap Trick’s Robin Zander and New York Dolls’ David Johansen and Terry Reid.
During his spring tour in support of Sweetzerland Manifesto, Perry debuted his all-new touring band, featuring fellow Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford and Extreme’s Gary Cherone as lead vocalist.
The set list for the upcoming run of shows promises to feature a mix of songs from Perry’s solo catalog as well as some rarely-played Aerosmith tracks from the band’s earliest records, like Toys In The Attic and Rocks.
Who Is Joe Perry?
World renowned guitarist and rock musician Joe Perry rose to fame as the lead guitarist and contributing songwriter for the rock band Aerosmith. Perry began playing guitar at just 10 years old, drawing on inspiration from rock acts like The Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Playing along with blues-rockers like the Yardbirds and John Mayall of the Bluesbreakers in his teen years would serve as the basis for his signature rough & tough blues licks.
In 1969, Perry joined forces with Tom Hamilton and Steven Tyler, forming Aerosmith shortly thereafter. Combining Perry’s bluesy rock influences with a hard-riffing style influenced by Led Zeppelin, the group signed to Columbia Records in 1972, releasing a string of gold and platinum selling albums. Aerosmith broke through into the mainstream with 1975’s Toys in the Attic, followed by 1976’s Rocks, cementing their status as global hard rock super stars. Throughout the 1970’s, the band charted a dozen Billboard hot 100 singles.
Despite facing hardships and issues stemming from drug abuse, the band regrouped in the late ‘80s, kicking their bad habits (for the most part), and releasing additional multi-platinum alums including 1989’s Pump, 1993’s Get a Grip, and 1997’s Nine Lives. Aerosmith is the best-selling American hard rock band of all time, with more than 150 million records sold worldwide and over 70 million records in the US alone. They hold the record for the most total certifications by an American band with 25 gold albums, 18 platinum albums, and 12 multi-platinum albums. They were inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
Perry was inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame alongside Steven Tyler in 2013 for their record-breaking accomplishments as Aerosmith’s principal songwriters. Perry is considered one of the greatest guitarists and rock artists of all time. He has cited Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page as a massive influence on his playing style, as well as Fleetwood Mac's first guitarist Peter Green and Jeff Beck. Perry has released a total of four solo albums since 2005. For the last three years, he has worked alongside Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp on his side project/rock super group, Hollywood Vampires.
