Meet Blackalicious
Hip-hop duo Blackalicious emerged from Sacramento, CA in the early 1990s, making waves with member Gift of Gab’s complex, tongue-twisting rhymes. Made up of rapper Gift of Gab and DJ/producer Chief Xcel, Blackalicious have generally favored what hip-hoppers call the “positive tip,” with lyrics and themes that are often spiritual and uplifting. The duo have released four studio albums to date, including Nia (1999), Blazing Arrow (2002), The Craft (2005), and Imani Vol. 1 (2015).
