Meet Robbie Robertson
Americana singer, songwriter, and musician Robbie Robertson is best known for his work as the lead guitarist and primary songwriter for The Band, as well as his career as a solo recording artist. Robertson's work with The Band helped pioneer the Americana genre, and he stayed with them from the time of their formation in 1968 until 1983, when he found success with a solo career as a Hollywood music producer. As a film soundtrack composer and producer, Roberston is known for his collaborations with famed director Martin Scorsese, their relationship beginning with the rockumentary film The Last Waltz (1978) and continuing through a number of box-office hits, including Raging Bull (1980), Casino (1995), The Departed (2006), The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), and The Irishman (2019). He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (amongst several other Hall of Fames) and has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Songwriters.
