Meadow Brook Theatre calls itself Michigan’s answer to Broadway, providing Broadway-quality productions of classical and original works inside the intimate Oakland University campus theater. The venue has the capacity to sit 584 showgoers and has hosted such productions as Why Do Fools Fall in Love?, Irving Berlin’s I Love a Piano, The Unavoidable Disappearance of Tom Durnin and Alter Boyz. Michigan’s largest producing nonprofit professional theater has been around since 1966, and in 2015, they held a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating its 50th season.

Meadow Brook Theatre is located on Oakland University’s picturesque campus, not far from the Recreation and Athletic Outdoor Complex. The venue is accessible via I-75’s Exit 79. Its parking lot is located by the venue and opens up two hours before matinee showtimes and at 5:30 p.m. for night shows. Tailgating is allowed in the lot, but alcohol is not.

Play disc golf at the nearby Grizzly Oaks Disc Golf Course, or grab a bite—from pizza to Irish pub grub to froyo—within walking distance to the theater. Guests can also hop in the car and venture to Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm (2 miles away), Cranbrook Art Museum (14 miles away) or Cranbrook Science Museum (15 miles away). Shopping can be had at Great Lakes Crossing Outlet and at Somerset Collection, both a short drive away. For outdoor fun, hit Paint Creek Trail. The venue is also less than 30 miles from Detroit.
