Meet Carousel Show

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s second musical collaboration, Carousel, is a musical tale that follows the romance and struggles of a carousel barker that was originally adapted in 1944 from Ferenc Molnar’s 1909 play Lilion. Molnar’s play was set in Budapest, and the 1945 Broadway adaptation transplanted the plot’s location to 1873 Maine. After the original Broadway debut, Carousel set forth on a U.S. tour, and has since made multiple Broadway and West End revivals. The musical has been capturing awards since its first year in production, and in 1994 Carousel was honored with a ‘Best Revival of a Musical’ Tony Award.
