Meet Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath, considered to be the original pioneers of heavy metal, was created in Birmingham, England in 1968. Original band members, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward and Ozzy Osbourne, and a long list of alternate members, made a paramount contribution to the heavy metal genre, with over 70 million record sales worldwide.

Originating as a blues rock band, the Black Sabbath morphed into something much more original along the lines of psychedelic rock and pulled artistically from a wide array of influences such as the Beatles, Cream, Django Reinhardt and Jethro Tull. In return, Black Sabbath has contributed heavily to the creativity of other progressive metal and alternative rock icons such as Iron Maiden, Metallica, Van Halen, Primus and Nirvana.
