About Tacoma Dome

Located in Tacoma, Washington, Tacoma Dome is an arena that first opened its doors in 1983. Currently, it’s under the ownership of the City of Tacoma.

Tacoma Dome Seating

Tacoma Dome has a total capacity of 21,000. However, this figure can vary for events with unique venue configurations.

Events at Tacoma Dome

Tacoma Dome is the hub for several events. The venue serves as the stage for soccer, basketball, hockey and lacrosse events, in addition to hosting other functions.

Getting into Tacoma Dome

Want to ensure a smooth entry to Tacoma Dome? We've got you covered! From security to accessibility, we've compiled all the info you need for a hassle-free arrival.

Security at Tacoma Dome

Security at Tacoma Dome is taken very seriously. All guests are required to go through security checks before entering the venue. Typically, security checkpoints tend to get longer as you get closer to the start time of the event. We recommend planning ahead so you don’t miss anything. Please note that Tacoma Dome has a strict bag policy.

Tacoma Dome Bag Policy & Prohibited Items

The Tacoma Dome follows a clear bag policy to facilitate smoother entry and streamline the security process for visitors and staff. It requires clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags within the size limit of 12" x 6" x 12", along with small clutch purses not exceeding 4.5" x 6.5". Additionally, one-gallon plastic storage bags are accepted. Clear bags compliant with the Tacoma Dome policy are available at Stocklist Goods. For most major events, there's a limited availability of Binbox lockers outside the venue. These lockers can be rented on a first-come, first-served basis with rental fees ranging from $10 to $15 and require card payment. Cash payments are not accepted, and the fees are subject to change.

What to Bring to Tacoma Dome

When you come to an event at Tacoma Dome, please make sure to bring your ticket and a valid ID, especially if you want to purchase alcohol. We recommend bringing a credit or debit card and also a little cash. Because this is an indoor venue, weather is often not a factor. However, as it is climate-controlled, it might be worth bringing a light jacket just in case it gets a little chilly inside.

Is Tacoma Dome ADA Accessible?

Tacoma Dome is committed to providing a comfortable experience for all guests. Assistive listening is available, and so is sensory accessibility. The venue is ADA compliant, too. Typically, Tacoma Dome has special seating and preferred entry gates for these patrons. Be sure to check the policy for your specific event for more information.

Tacoma Dome Experience

Your experience at Tacoma Dome extends beyond the event itself. Discover delicious food and drinks, convenient transportation options, and more to create an unforgettable memory.

Food and Beverage at Tacoma Dome

Plenty of concessions are available at Tacoma Dome. Non-alcoholic beverages are served as well as alcoholic beverages including but not limited to beer, wine and mixed drinks.

Payment Methods Accepted at Tacoma Dome

Tacoma Dome primarily operates on a cashless basis. This implies that while some vendors may still accept cash, most onsite purchases are done with digital wallets or debit and credit cards. Although Tacoma Dome accepts most credit cards (such as Visa and Mastercard), it is prudent to carry a small amount of cash for tipping and for the few vendors that might accept it inside and outside the venue.

Is There Wi-Fi Available?

Indeed, the venue provides Wi-Fi access. We suggest connecting to the Wi-Fi network immediately upon arrival, as cellular service can sometimes be unreliable.

How to Get to Tacoma Dome

Tacoma Dome is located at 2727 East D St, Tacoma, Washington, 98421. We've got you covered with all the options to get there, from public transportation to convenient rideshares.

Tacoma Dome Parking Details

Tacoma Dome has plenty of parking options nearby. Many event-goers will utilize onsite parking, while others will use nearby public parking. Parking prices can range depending on where you decide to park and may even be free for some events. We have outlined some of the closest parking options for Tacoma Dome visitors. They are Republic Parking, Tacoma Dome Station (Parking), Tacoma Dome Station - East Parking Garage, 103 E 25th St Parking and Tacoma Dome Zone C.

How Early Should I Get to Tacoma Dome?

Arrival times may vary depending on the event, but we recommend arriving at the venue about an hour before the scheduled start time. This gives you some breathing room in case of traffic congestion, parking difficulties, visits to the merchandise store, or if you want to grab some food and drinks before the event starts.

Rideshare Drop-off and Pickup Location

At Tacoma Dome, there are specific pick-up locations for rideshare users. You’ll find the designated pick-up spots at Wiley Ave. On event days, it is advised not to conduct drop-offs or pick-ups in the D Street loading zone. Given the restricted space, road closures, and heavy traffic during events, it is suggested that guests use alternative locations close to the Tacoma Dome (such as Tacoma Dome Station, Best Western, Freighthouse Square) to ensure more convenient drop-offs and pick-ups. Using rideshare to attend an event is a great option because it eliminates the stress of finding parking, which can often be scarce and expensive. Additionally, ridesharing promotes safety by providing reliable transportation if you plan on drinking alcohol during your visit.

Closest Bus Stop to Tacoma Dome

For a budget-friendly option, the nearest bus stop is located at D St E & E 27th St.

Closest Train Stop to Tacoma Dome

With nearby Mt. Rainier providing a stunning backdrop, the wooden top of Tacoma Dome perfectly complements its natural setting. The Dome is Washington State’s largest arena and one of the world’s largest arenas with a wooden dome. The venue doesn’t have a typical seating setup, providing the flexibility needed for the arena to host an array of sporting and entertainment events. This also allows guests to enjoy an up-close experience with excellent views and acoustics for concerts and special events.

Tacoma Dome opened in 1983 with a concert by David Bowie as part of his Serious Moonlight Tour. Since then, it’s hosted a number of sporting events, concerts, trade shows, crusades, festivals and expos. Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Chris Botti and Blake Shelton are among the headliners who have graced its stage.

Tacoma Dome is about 30 miles from the city of Seattle. Visitors from Seattle can take the commuter train or an express bus to the arena. There are dozens of hotels and restaurants in downtown Tacoma, which is less than a mile from the Dome. The Tacoma Dome parking lots have limited availability, but there are privately owned garages and lots downtown that offer easy alternatives to parking onsite. From these lots, guests can catch the Tacoma link light rail to the arena.
