Widespread Panic is a southern blues rock band from Athens, Georgia, formed in 1986. They draw upon influences of other famous jam bands such as Phish and The Grateful Dead, and have established themselves as one of the front-runners in the genre. With a colorful array of musical influences as well as their own original and signature songs, the band plays a different set at every performance. Given their improvisational nature, it is a guarantee that no two shows will ever be the same. Panic fans are extremely dedicated to the extent that they could almost be called a cult following. Although only a handful of WSP’s songs have landed radio air time or onto the mainstream markets, the band has an impressively large fan base and continues to deliver exceptional live performances which clearly contribute to their widespread success.
